Vee shaped jerseys have been seen in various iterations over many years. This version is based on the 1989/90 shirt that marked the first year that FC has worn shirts designed by a brand other than Umbro, when Scottish firm Matchwinner took over production.
Hull have used a black with white vee at various points of their history - the 1989/90 shirt was probably one of the first “away” shirts to be sold to fans. Original replicas now exchange hands for significant sums and this is a modern twist on the classic - featuring a collar rather than the half collared vee that the original shirt featured.
